I have started a manpower consulting firm and have also taken service tax number. Now i want to raise the first invoice. Can somebody guide me if there is any specifice format for invoice number?

There is no specific formate for Invoice Number. but it must be serially numbered.
No any special format for Service Tax Invoice but you can try this:-
Name, address of service provider,
Registration number of Service Tax,
Service Tax No,
Pan No,
Bill No:
Date:
Name and address of service receiver,
Descripttion, classification and value of taxable service
Service tax payable.
Service tax invoice need the statutory thinks compulsary. (Name of assessee, pan card no, invoice no, & service tax registration number must should hold your invoice )
