Hi all,

Can a art work be considered as an Investment?

If yes, whats the use of stating it under investments because it neither rentals nor Dividends/Interest.

If its still justifiable then pls let me know what kind art works can be considered investments?

Like a Painting or things used by great people like gandhi or nehru. and anything else.

Also to qualify as an investment does it have to atleast give me back my initial investment?

i.e can investment be of gambling nature?

like it may or may not give returns or my investment?

Thanks in advance.

Investments are assets held by an enterprise for earning income
by way of dividends, interest, and rentals, for capital appreciation,
or for other benefits to the investing enterprise

Arts do not earn interest/dividend or rentals neither there is scope of capital appreciation.
I dont think it can be considered as investment.

Pooja,

Even if I'm of same thoughts. But I still feel there's a clause to sneak in ur paitings as investments.

i hope an expert could give an answer on this soon.

Thanks for ur comments.
