Invalid return after response to sec 139(9)

I have an issue that i have filled return for AY 2017-18 in Form 3 and subsequently received notice under sec 139(9) treating it as defective return. Subsequently i responded to the notice that the  reason stated is incorrect. Now they reject my response and treat that return invalid. When i contacted to toll free number they said me that you have to contact to AO. When i went to AO he said pehle Income Tax Act padh kar aao , me aapko ulta sidha javab nahi de sakta etc etc.. Now what next i should do to make it as valid return? Hope that you will respond
