Dear all

I just need to know if all tax-payers who file their returns online will always receive an Intimation u/s 143 (1) irrespective if there is tax payable or refundable. In other words it is necessary that everyone who files their return will have to get this intimation u/s 143(1)

Also if yes then what is the time-frame by when this intimation will be sent by the IT department.

In addition to this I also need to know that if as per the intimation u/s 143(1) and if we pay this tax amount online after receiving this intimation then do we again need to file a revised return after paying the tax.

Thanks in advance

If u get intimation u/s 143 (1) it just means that ur return is processed and u my later get notice for srutiny assessment or u may not get also it depends on dept.

If u make payment as per 143 (1) intimation no need to file return just pay the amount mentioned.

As you file return of income you will received intimation u/s 143(1) within 12 month from the date of filing of return. If it reveals demand and it seems to be correct, then you have to pay tax as revealed by intimation. In such case you don't need to file revise return only correspondance with concern A.O. in this regards is essential considering that you have paid the tax as demanded by intimation u/s 143(1) for A.Y. so and so.....

Just to add, if you do not receive intimation the acknowledgement is deemed to be intimation under section 143(1)(a). Generally where there is no payable no refund the Dept. is not too keen to send an intimation.

Regards,

IT dept can make mistakes. Sometimes the summary assessment u/s 143(1) is not accurate. So double-check if there is a demand as per 143(1)

Thank u friends for all your valuable inputs...Much appreciated

I recieved my acknowledgement via email today after I sent my ITR V last week to Bangalore CPC...

Also due to the rounding off in excel the tax payable was Rs10 but I read that as per sec 143(1) the demand/refund for less than Rs100 is not required to be paid.

Now since I recieved my acknowledgement  of ITR V via email today..i just wanted to confirm if there will be any further intimation from IT dept or is this filing procedure now completed for me.

Ya it is complete now.

Agreed with above explaination.

Thanks for sharing.

Intimation us/143(1) if required by any assessee can be had by request or be fetched ONLINE on logging into his e-filing account.

The due amount deposited as per demand of Deptt need not to be informed to any one.  The system will do its job to square up the balance once the amount has been deposited,

Yaa now there is no need to inform the assessing officer regarding payment of demand notice u/s 143 (1) if it is serve online to assessee
  1. It is very positive step that income tax department to assess all income tax returns filed online quickly. After successful assessment of tax returns by income tax department, issues Intimation u/s 143(1).
  2. Normally these intimations will be received through email to the Email address provided in filing income tax returns online. This Intimation u/s 143(1) should be treated as completion of assessment income tax returns for the year unless there is tax due from the tax payer.
