Interest on short deduction

Dear Sir/Madme,

We got a notice to pay  interest on short deduction of TDS on salary from the Department,  Whether interest on short deduction can be vanished as earlier it has been  filled the TDS return with mis-match of challan nos & correctly deduction of TDS amount on salary, now  while filling the correction statement we made challan nos at right and matches with the amount of short deduction notice sent by them.
