Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies that interest can generally be paid to partners on their capital or current accounts, provided it's outlined in the partnership deed and meets specific income tax conditions under Section 40(b). However, interest on the Reserves and Surplus account is typically not an allowable expense for income tax purposes. Reserves and Surplus accounts are usually created or updated at the end of the financial year.
