Intangible asset - software

Dear All

As per my understanding : An intangible asset is something that does not have a physical form but still provides an economic value to the company such as brand value, trademarks, copyrights, patents, franchises, customer lists etc

We are a IT product & services company , we are still under development phase of the software,

1) Can software be considered as an intangible asset?

If Yes :

2)As we are still under development stage , Can we consider this as an intangible asset? or should we wait till the completion of the product.

Thanks in advance
