From A.Y. 2019-20, info. about "Tax Identification Number" is mandatory for NRIs filling their returns using ITR2 form. Is this T.I.N. same as "Social Security Number", for US-based NRI.
I'm filing my US based son's ITR and he wants to know.

Individuals are assigned TINs in the form of Social Security Numbers (SSNs), in US

Is jurisdiction of residence means name of the country? Also in case of UK, which number represents TIN or equivalent? Shall be grateful for guidance. Thanks.

What about people in GCC country. They dont have TIN as no tax for them in GCC. What should they fill in ITR2
Wherever there is no TIN available, you can fill your passport number in the ITR. That is an option given in such case.
