Increase in excise duty

transitional provisions may apply, subject to the notification date mentioned in budget. usually it get applied from 1st of april after budget, or as notified in the notification.

Let the budget be presenting on 15th march,wil the hike be applicable for those who are buying diesel cars on 16th?

In terms of Provisional Collection Act, 1931, increased excise duty is collected from the day  when Budget is presented in the Parliament.
