Incorrect 26 QC

TDS 587 views 1 replies

Hi

We filed incorrect 26QC and paid TDS @ 5% instead of 2%. Now to claim refund via 26B, do we need to first correct 26QC or we can file refund request straight-away.

A question about correcting an incorrect 26QC and claiming a TDS refund! Correcting 26QC: -

*Incorrect TDS Rate*: You paid TDS at 5% instead of the correct rate of 2%. -

*Correction Process*: To correct the incorrect 26QC, you'll need to file a revised 26QC with the correct TDS rate. Claiming Refund via 26B: -

*Revised 26QC*: Before filing Form 26B for a refund, you should file the revised 26QC with the correct TDS rate. -

*Refund Claim*: Once the revised 26QC is filed, you can claim the refund by filing Form 26B. Key Considerations: -

*Time Limit*: Ensure you file the revised 26QC and Form 26B within the prescribed time limits to avoid any interest or penalties. -

*Documentation*: Maintain proper documentation, including the original 26QC, revised 26QC, and Form 26B. Recommendation:

1. *File Revised 26QC*: File the revised 26QC with the correct TDS rate as soon as possible.

2. *Claim Refund via 26B*: Once the revised 26QC is filed, claim the refund by filing Form 26B.
