Income Tax Return U/s 148 AY 2013-14

This is not clear yet! I received notice under 148 and need to furnish revised ITR. Under e-proceedings tab there is no way to prepare and file a new ITR. The only option is to upload an existing file. There is a difference between filing return (meaning enter data into forms and generate a return and file it) vs just uploading an existing PDF or X M L. I want to know how and where I can prepare the ITR? 

You will need to go the income tax portal. Then in the 'downloads' section, download the excel utility of ITR for the particular year. You can also download the java utility. Fill in the details as per the instructions in the utility. Do select return filed in response to notice u/s 148. Then prepare the X M L file. Login to the portal and upload the X M L in the necessary 'e-proceeding' tab. If it is not allowing, then upload in the 'e-file' tab.

In e-proceeding tab only allow zip, pdf and jpg files X M L not allowed even if is inside a zip file, so that option is not possible. The other option 'e-file' there are two types u/s 92CD and 119(2)(b) nothing for notice 148. I tried both of them and give errors when uploading my X M L as I obviously selected "in response to notice u/s 148" when I filled it and they are expecting u/s92 or 119(2)(b). So really I cannot see any way to upload an X M L, the only option I can see is to attached the pdf in a response in the e-proceeding but I doubt that will count as actually filing an ITR
