Income Tax Return

My cousin got PAN card last year and filed his first return for AY 2008-09 last year. Now he has shifted from Raipur to Panipat. Unfortunately, he has lost his ITR which he has filed last year in Raipur. He doesn't remember how much income or particulars he has declared in the last return. Is there any procedure by following which he can get to know how much income was declared by him in his last year return.

IF HE HAS FILED BY ONLINE, FROM HIS ID IN INCOME TAX WEB SITE, HE WILL GET ACKNOWLEDGMENT COPY AND IN THAT HE CAN SEE HIS GROSS TOTAL INCOME...

hi !

The best thing you can do is go to the ward where he has filed his Return of Income and search for the Acknowledgement No. of Return filed from the Register over there. Once you get the Acknowledgement No. then you can ask Clerk over there to take out the Return of Income and you can note down the particulars you need.

I am sure this will help you.

My cousin filed his last year return in Raipur. Now he has permanently shifted to Panipat. Can he file his return in Panipat? What is the procedure for it?

Yes, He can file a return with panipat also but he can give the residential address in ITR is for panipat address only not Raipur.

And also he going to change the residential address in PAN Section in IT Dept. (If the address is permanent)

hi !

He should first file an Application for correction in PAN data where he can mention his Address of Panipat, then he will receive a PAN card with his present address of Panipat. Further, he should inform the change of address to his ITO in Panipat and ask him to transfer his file to ITO in Panipat, then his last year's Return of Income and file will be transferred to Panipat.

I agree with Mr. Vinod.

Hi again

I have seen some tax consultants filing ITR 4 (estimate based return), with leaving columns of Cash in Hand etc. empty. Should that not be filled up?
