Hi,

My name is uday. I have filed my ITR for Assessment year 2008-2009 but I havent recieved my refund yet. I lost my ITR acknowledgement receipt. How can I check my refund status? I called Income tax customer care and they said they have only details of ITRs filed after 2010 and asked to contact the branch office. How can I check the status of my Income tax returns refund for 2008-2009 and also will I get the refund?

Is there a way to check the status of the refund and also whom should I contact?

you can check online https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/refundstatuslogin.H T M L by entering your PAN.

If that does not work contact your local AO and check if there is any mismatch worng bank account details, etc also get your Intimation u/s143(1) from AO to confirm whether they have allowed you the refund.

It might happen that there is difference in your ITR and Intimation.

If all is right and Intimation shows the same refund amount then ask your AO to process the refund.
