Iam having a doubt regarding efiling of income tax.
My brother is a salaried employee, he haven't filled any tax returns from AY 2012-13 to AY 2014-15.
recently he got a notice from department, stating to file Income Tax returns for the following Assessement Years. we prepared an online ITR in efilling site it self and subbmitted, but at end after we submitted, There an error is displaying that (the end date for filing this ITR is over).
May i know why such error is displaying ?

e-filing has many limitations and it may not cover scenarios like filing returns for multiple years. Since your brother hasn't filed the returns since 2012, he will have to go for manual paper filing. e-filing will not accept such past ITRs. For this year, let him take the help of a chartered accountant to make sure he complies with all the legal requirements. Once he clears all the dues and file ITR, next year onwards he can use one of the online e-filing sites like www.hamaratax.com. One reason many people fail to file the tax return is the headaches involved in understanding the fields in the Forms. Even the government's official e-filing site (https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/) is not so user friendly. That's why suggest you try one of the third party sites for future e-filing.
