Hi Friends,

My CA Final attempt is due in November 2010 and have just started to study accounting standards from M. P. Vijay Ku.. As I found out the book very detailed in its approach, I would like to have a knowldge of important AS(with relation to weightage of marks allocated in previous examination) from the point of view os my attempt and importance of comparative study of IFRS & IAS with AS.

According to me importent AS -- 4,5,10,11,14,16,17,19,20,21,22,26,28,29

Better read published Balance Sheets of some listed companies specially those which have at least one subsidiary company. For example; Reliance Industries, L & T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharat Forge, BHEL etc.

It will give you not only indepth practical knowledge of the Accounting Standards but also you will easily understand all the relevant provisions which are most important. Some typical situations would also be very clear to you because the auditors have to report thereon.

Please don't take risk of reading only important accounting standards. The Institute is well known to ask questions on those areas which generally students leave.

If u want the indepth knowledge of AS than u can go for MP Vijaykumar but if ur aim is to pass in CA final than just go for DS Rawat & that too only practical questions mentioned after every AS. If u ask abt important AS I will suggest u to go for practicals after every AS. Dat is concise & will not take enough tym. Otherwise important AS are 16, 20, 22, 30 (m. imp).
