Import of life saving drug

Provide name of drugs which you want to import

As you said it is a  Drug  and you want to import for personal use then you should have permission for import of the same from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). The Government has allowed the import of drugs in small quanitities for personal use and patients requiring them will have to obtain a permit from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). 

As per the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, You are required to make an application in Form 12A along with the prescripttion of the Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) and his registration number, mentioning  the quantity of drug required for the treatment of the patient. The government has nominated certain port offices of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) from where permissions for import of small quantities of drugs for personal use could be obtained. The Ports are as under:

1) Airports of IGI Airport, New Delhi, 2) Air Cargo Complex, Chennai, 3) International Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai, 4) New Integrated Cargo Terminal Building, Kolkata, 5) RGI Airport, Hyderabad,6) Airfreight Terminal, Bengaluru, 7)Air Cargo Complex, Ahmedabad and Port Offices at Custom House, 8) Chennai, New Custom House, 9) Mumbai, Nava Sheva .

Further you need to import the Drug only at the above said Nominated Port of India. The rest procedures of Cutsoms  for mport are the same as applicable to nornal import .
