Hey Satyendra, I dunno what the Institute doing at the moment to train its members in IFRS but it is expected that Institute will very soon start a certification course in IFRS.

Btw IFRS, is just normal accounting standards and in India out of the 32 AS, 7 are modelled/ inspired by IFRS. Ofcourse, the convergence cannot be taken lightly because it needs a lot of training, time & costs.

Please feel free to drop in any specific query pertaining to IFRS and I'll try to reslove the same. I have been working on IFRS since 2003.

Hi Pooja

Ya Pooja, definitly when ever I face any trouble in IFRS , I will call you. Being a professional friend, I appreciate that you have already working the IFRS.

For me its totally new thing. I can understand it is some how similar to our AS.

Thanks for cooperation.

Who is eligible for joining IFRS. What is the eligibility criteria?

A course have been organised by ACCA, UK. Its a dilpoma exam held twice in a year ie June and Dec. The next exam is on Dec 4, 2008. I have to still collect information on that. you all can visit www.accaglobal.com for more information.

For any more query feel free to write me.

Hi,

Further to Mr. Pankaj Adukia's info, I would like to add something. I have searched theis site accaglobal.com. DipIFRS seems to a good course. It costs GBP 150 for registration and GBP 200 for books. I have mailed to ACCA as to whether it is possible to share the books cost by two or more poeple and the reply is awaited. The exam consists of 4 questions of 25 marks each. Each is a diff type of question - consolidation problems, case studies, etc.

If anyone can get information whether books cost can be shared, please let me know. It will be a great benefit to all of us. If I get some reply from ACCA, I will keep u posted.

Hi:

I am a Chartered Accountant from India and currently settled in USA. I was wondering if there might be some good books / sofware which I can buy from India on IFRS as number of companies are switching to these standards and I have to train myself.

Also, I am looking for creating partnership / network with professionals in India on IFRS for project work. If anyone is interested, please write to me at agarwalss @ aol.com

But is it not possible to buy these books from Laxmi book depot where we get CFA books and only pay registration fees.. I mean is it mandatory to buy books from ACCA only. Just confirm

Do Visit and contribute at the blog https://ifrsinindia.blogspot.com/ which is dedictated to giving infomration on IFRS in India.

ACCA qualification Dip in IFRS is concerned - you can get books from GTG guides which cost Rs 10,000. Note the exam is quite tough and require thorough preperation in an exam mode (do not go for gathering knowldege)
