“If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India”

Max Mueller

It is already becoming clear that a chapter which had a Western beginning will have to have an Indian ending if it is not to end in self-destruction of the human race. At this supremely dangerous moment in human history , the only way of salvation is the ancient Hindu way. Here we have the attitude and spirit that can make it possible for the human race to grow together in to a single family.

~Arnold Joseph Toynbee (British historian)

In religion, India is the only millionaire - the One land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for all the shows of all the rest of the globe combined"

Mark Twain

In India, I found a race of mortals living upon the Earth, but not adhering to it, inhabiting cities, but not being fixed to them, possessing everything, but possessed by nothing

Apollonius Tyanaeus

If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India.

Romain Rolland

India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only!

Mark Twain

Nearly all the philosophical and mathematical doctrines attributed to Pythagoras are derived from India

Ludwig von Schroder

Not until we see the richness of the Hindu mind and its essential spirituality can we understand India

Lyn Yutang

When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous.

~Albert Einstein

We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made.
~ Albert Einstein (German Physicist)

India ? The land of Vedas, the remarkable works contain not only religious ideas for a perfect life, but also facts which science has proved true. Electricity, radium, electronics, airship, all were known to the seers who founded the Vedas.
~Wheeler Wilcox (American poet)

Our present knowledge of the nervous system fits in so accurately with the internal descriptttion of the human body given in the Vedas (5000 years ago). Then the question arises whether the Vedas are really religious books or books on anatomy of the nervous system and medicine.

~ Rele (Jewish writer)

After a study of some forty years and more of the great religions of the world, I find none so perfect ,none so scientific, none so philosophical and no so spiritual that the great religion known by the name of Hinduism. Make no mistake, without Hinduism, India has no future. Hinduism is the soil in to which India’s roots are stuck and torn out of that she will inevitably wither as a tree torn out from its place. And if Hindus do not maintain Hinduism who shall save it? If India’s own children do not cling to her faith who shall guard it? India alone can save India and India and Hinduism are one.

~Annie Besant (English theosophist)

Civilizations have arisen in other parts of the world. In ancient and modern times, wonderful ideas have been carried forward from one race to another…But mark you, my friends, it has been always with the blast of war trumpets and the march of embattled cohorts. Each idea had to be soaked in a deluge of blood….. Each word of power had to be followed by the groans of millions, by the wails of orphans, by the tears of widows. This, many other nations have taught; but India for thousands of years peacefully existed. Here activity prevailed when even Greece did not exist… Even earlier, when history has no record, and tradition dares not peer into the gloom of that intense past, even from until now, ideas after ideas have marched out from her, but every word has been spoken with a blessing behind it and peace before it. We, of all nations of the world, have never been a conquering race, and that blessing is on our head, and therefore we live….!
~Swami Vivekananda (Indian philosopher)

great work ............. keep posting

Thanks Pulkit, for appreciating the quotes of great men singing glory of India and it's ancient culture. But, tell me one thing... did these quotes fill you with tremendous pride about being an INDIAN ? If yes, I would consider that my efforts have fructified.

Great.. Proud to be an indian..

Veeral i have no idea why people in india think that we are ignorent of our achievements. I am proud of not only being an Indian but also of being a Hindu.

Which all countries Arabians or Europeans ruled now they all are either islamised or christnised but its not with India. Becaus in true sense they never ruled us.

Those with no self respect and brains got converted but our great forefather didnot surrender, they fought and protected this great culture. Religion is not just the

devotions towards god but our self respect, our Ego, everything. Jai Mahadev

Wah Pulkit ! I truly appreciate your spirit ! It’s true that many cultures invaded this great nation, yet they could not impose their culture and religion to the fullest extent in India, even by force. Wherever, these imposing cultures have went, they have converted people. Even Greece lost it’s ancient identity, when it was invaded by European culture. But to this date, India has maintained it’s religious identity. That is why in the song “Saare Jahaan se achcha, Hindustaan Hamaara”, the poet was inspired to write :

“kuchh bāt hai kih hastī miṭtī nahīñ hamārī
sadiyoñ rahā hai dushman daur-e zamāñ hamārā”

(Such is our existence that it cannot be erased
Even though, for centuries, the cycle of time has been our enemy.)

“sāre jahāñ se acchā hindostāñ hamārā
ham bulbuleñ haiñ us kī vuh gulsitāñ
 hamārā”

What beautiful Quotes you have selected. Only a dead person would remain unmoved by such talks. These talks filled my heart by asmita (pride) for our our country as well as Hinduism. These days, so called 'Hindus' shy away from commenting on their religion out of their so called allegiance towards 'secularism'. Annie Besant has rightly said, "if Hindus do not maintain Hinduism who shall save it? If India’s own children do not cling to her faith who shall guard it?"

Thank you Ankur for your comments...
