as per provision laid down in handbook of procedures vol-1 para 2.8(iii) the IEC is exempt if they are importing through IEC is not mandatory this condition.

Dear Shobit,

If you indent to start a Import business, then you should get an IEC code, Yes you can give your PAN card for proprietor ship concerns. Other than the same PAN in the name of Company is required.

On more thing is i am suppose to have IEC code or import license incase i want one sample piece from china or want to buy for personal use from China
