Thane Node of Konkan Chapter had organised on 27/6/09 a CEP on Maharashtra VAT with special emphasis on recently revised Audit related provisions.

CMA Devarajan Swaminathan, Co-ordinator of Thane Node, welcomed Speaker, the members and Students. CMA Sudhir C. Sant, Pune was faculty.

Good number of CMAs both, practicing and employed in Industry participated. Presence of few Students was an encouraging factor.

CMA Sant started with the brief introduction of MVAT, the role of consultants and the role of auditors. He also touched upon the potential conflict of interest between the two roles.

He covered the revised Form 704 in full detail, going through the Form point by point and how each one of them should be dealt with.

He called upon PCMAs to venture in to VAT Audit function in a big way. This area provides tremendous potential for CMAs to perform and demonstrate their contribution - value addition, he said.

It was an interactive session, with questions and queries raised by members that were deftly answered by CMA Sant.

Konkan chapter is thankful to CMA Sant for excellent sharing of knowledge and experience on MVAT.

Members opined to have one full day seminar on the subject.

CMA S. Subramanian, a senior member presented a memento to CMA Sudhir Sant.

==== Next Members' Meeting [with CEP] at Thane will be on 25th July 2009.Please watch this section for Details.
