Hi Friends

I want to pursue ICWA course. Actually I am working professional with MBA (Finance) and having 10 years of  industrial experience in Central excise, Material Management, Logistics, import & Exports and also ERP (SAP) as a core user. Coming to ICWA coures , How i will be exempt from Practical training, Group discussion, Computer training and etc. Whether my decision of pursing ICWA is correct or not and if yes, how will be career.

Iam in confusion that which course is better between CA & ICWA. Somebody says that ICWA can be completed easily and CA is difficult. In fact i have no idea about CA. As a working professional, is it possible to do article ship and all and for person with 10 years of industrial experience are also required to go for articleship.  Please guide me with regard all my doubts.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Prasad,

As for your query on CA & ICWA course, pls understand both the course are equally difficult to complete when you are already a working professional. The course of ICWA seems to be more achievable with such exemption like no CA like practical training etc. Of course you need to put in your more than 100% dedication and hardwork.

On comaprison front the CA course is generally consider more marketable due to its wider scope as per rule laid down by Govt in companies act and other regulations. Like the statutory audit of companies can be done by only a CA whereas the ICWA can conduct the Cost Audit. The real caych is in the companies covered by both the audits. The companies covered in Cost audit is not even 1% of the companies covered in Statutory audit. The audit is where a substantial portion of the CA's involved.

Also clearing ICWA will be a bit difficult due to the result % being very small as compared to CA. But in ICWA there is not limit on nos. of examination attempt whereas in CA there is limit to the attempts. In CA all students have to go for article trainee but than there are way out available for this.

Hi vijay

Hi Shuvro

Time is there in plenty. All you have to do is stay focussed.

You still have 9 full months and that's a lot of time.

All the very best.

Dear Friends,

I am working in Central Excise Department and having 24 years service with exposure to all angles of indirect taxation including EOU, SEZ etc.

Now, I want to pursue one of the professional courses like ICWA, CA or ACS. For a working Govt employee like me, is there any exemption from mandatory training.Kindly also advise me which course is better for me.

With Regards
