Is compulsory to study icai study material to understand the concepts or any other way?

There are other books also. But the questions in your exams are very much from icai study materials

Now a days ICAI, material are very good, so you can read with that.
For exam and knowledge such materials are enough

It is not compulsory but studying both study material and practice manual are really helpful. You can simply go through the illustrations from study material to easily understand concepts and continue practicing questions from practice manual.
