HRA exemption if wife is house owner

I am currently living in Bengaluru with my wife & kids in an apartment. The house is on my wife's name. Can I pay monthly rent to my wife and will my HRA be tax exempted? My wife doesn't have any other income and she will file ITR with the rental income.

Quick Summary
This discussion explores the possibility of claiming House Rent Allowance (HRA) exemption when paying rent to a spouse who owns the property. While technically feasible with proper documentation, experts advise that claiming HRA when living in the same house as the owner spouse can be problematic and may not be allowed by tax authorities.
