Hra exception and maintenance rebate claim

TDS 888 views 1 replies

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the HRA exception. I had taken house loan and claimed the exception amount (principle + Interest) untill last year as per rule. Now i have closed the housing loan by repaying the pending amount. I have rented out that apartment.

Currently i am staying in the other Rented house. I understand that i am eligible to claim HRA benefit however Am I eligible to claim any benefit / Rebate on the maintenance amount + the property tax that i spend on my rented apartment? fyi, I do not have any other housing loan.

Please clarify.

Thanks,

yes you can claim municipal tax paid towards rented out property.

No other expenses is allowed as a standard deduction of 30% is allowed in case of income from house property.
