Hi Shruti,
I m Sachin,
I m in C.A.(final)
I think u should opt for for good coaching instead of study MAFA by yourself.
coz. conceptual clearity is much for professional Exams.
There r many good coachings for C.A.(Final) MAFA. U may take classes from Ashish Kalra Sir, J.B.Gupta Sir, Rajesh Makkar (in order of my preference).

Coaching will be the best but in case u go for self study, personaly I have found "R.P Rustagi" as a very good concept building book.

Hi Shruti
This is Sumit
I am giving below you the phone No. of Mr. J.B. Gupta Sir who is well known as the best teacher for MAFA for giving deep knowledge of all the concepts. You may discuss your problem with him, he is a very good person by nature as well.

Hi Shruti:
If u want to do self study then i wud suggest u to go through the notes of Makkar ( Teaches in delhi..Notes r avail. at Puja Law House). This is the best. No book contains as many questions as it has.U will surely get exemption(+60) in Mafa if u follow these notes...i have studied this only and have just given my papers...expecting exemption in mafa...

the other option is to read Khan and Jain...anyways makkar is the best...as no book is complete in itself...

Hi Shruti
There is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to attend coaching classes or private tutorials for this subject....
Its like Mathematics...ONLY PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT...
The Basic MAFA for CA Final Book authored by PATTABHI AND BALA works wonders for your conceptual clarity...
Though I've also done my MBA in Finance but while preparing for CA Final I relied heavily on this Book rather than my MBA Fundas.. There were similar questions in the exams as given in this book...
All the Best

there are lot of suggestion in this regard as one of our friend APARNA said, u can do self study, the proper approach for this subject is little difficult to explain, bu i will do my best,
This is my way
Get acquinted with Statistics particularly Correlation and Regression-- very important for portfolio managment, little light on this is correlation is useful for finding the correlation coefficient (there many way of finding so first do it in stats) and regression is nothing but beta and line of regression is nothing but security market line(SML).
Know the difference between opportunity cost of capital, weighted average cost of capital and cost of debt, and acquinted when to use which rate... very useful in doing leasing, NPV etc. WORD OF CAUTION DONT CONFUSE IN THIS TOPIC
do dividend decision policy, u will get atleast 8m from this topic, get well acquinted with PRESENT VALUE OF GROWTH OPPORTUNITY, in this topic-- lot of Indian authors book r misleading even Pattabi, Ravi M kishore and other authors are also. Do Bearley and Mayers., know the difference between present cost of equity, Present investment rate with cost of equity demanded and future investment rate
I will post the approach on further request
