How to rectify an error in tds when return is filled?

I received an email from depatt regarding TDS short payment and interest shown. when i login the tds. i tried to download the conso file. but error shown in the there is mismatched challan and online correction shown. So what is the procedure and how to correct my tds.? is it necessary to file revised return? if so please let me know the procedure?

log on to traces and go in for request for correction. If you have DSC kindly go with correction using DSC option otherwise click on normal correction. After filing the required details of return you can rectify your error.
I recommend to use DSC if you have.

There is window open in which it is shown "challan mismatched and download conso file if only challan matched",for challan matched online correction file open.in which two options1) online.2)offline. then only conso file download. i want to know whether to i have to file online challan details or return to be revied?

if you have DSC then go for online otherwise revise the return after correction

sir...in that case where TRACES refuses to accept your conso file request due to challan mismatch, there are 2 ways to edit the deductee entries...one is using DSC..by using DSC you can move or edit deductee entries. Another way is 'Tag challan'. Here, 1st you have to tag any unclaimed challan to the statement you want to make correction..then submit your return for process...you just tag a challam instead of an unmatched challan in the statement now..your return ''ll be processed in one or two days..then you can request for conso file by using the details of tagged challan.
