CMA 1005 views 3 replies

Dear Seniors,

I'm working in private company as an executive and i'm also pursuing CMA Intermediate (Group 1) Dec,2015 batch. I will be go to attend the classes on July onwards.

but i have no idea, how to study and how to prepare the exams. Mainly, how can i prepare the theory papers (I'm not fluent in english also).

I have planned to clear the all papers without fail.

So, i'm requesting you, kindly guide me and give me your valuable advise to prepare the CMA.

I'm expecting your hopeful reply.

Since u r planning to go for coaching, they will be able to guide u better. In addition to study materials, u can also hv a look at learning resources available on ICAI site. Also try to solve RTP, PTP etc which are also available on the site of the institute.

Hi Dhiliban

For Intermediate Grp I exam, you need to focus more on concepts. Direc Taxation will need lots of reading and practice. Coaching will explain you the concept but practice will be your responsibility. When I gave this exam, I completed 1st reading of direct taxation before going to coaching. It helped me to understand better. Since we get 1st exposure to this subject at this level it is quite difficult to prepare but proper approach and practice will help.

For accounts, coaching will play a major role. Generally coaching classes ask you to focus only on few chapters because rest are either very difficult or long. My advise will be try to prepare at lease 90% of syllabus because you donot know what kind of q.paper will come. Pattern keeps changing. Do not think of scoring just 40 to pass. If you want to clear a group you should aim for 60-70 marks in each subject. This will make sure that you do not fail.

Lastly do not study only subject that seems to be tough to you and do not ignore easy subject. At times we work so much on hard subjects that we score well in that but we lose on easy subject because we do not give enough attention to it.

The above observations were from my experience of Grp I of CMA Exam. Hope you find it useful.

Hi Prachi,

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions.

I have some additional doubts regarding this.

1. How to study the direct taxation, financial accounting & cost - financial management (Method & shortcuts) and how can we prepare the main factors in these paper (like.act, year, conditions & u/s). Most of the teachers conducted class as just like that but i dont have idea for how to write exam & easy way to remind the major items.

2. i have a minimum no of hrs to study and how can i study all paper with mimimum period of time.

3. How to prepare time schedule

Note: My timing is 9am to 5pm - office, 6pm to 8pm coaching class, 8 to 10.30 pm travel, dinner,etc, 10.30 to 4am sleep & then 4am to 6am - study.

Kindly give you suggestions and guide me for further.
