WHAT ARE THE WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN INCREASE THE FREE SPACE OF HARD DISK? I HAVE TRIED THE FOLLOWING
1.DISK DEFRAGMENTATION
2. DISK CLEAN UP
3. REMOVING UNUSED INSTALLED PROGRAMS
BUT THE FREE SPACE ON THE C-DRIVE IS 79% WHICH EARLIER USED TO 84%. I HAVE NOT STORED ANYTHING ON THE C-DRIVE APART FROM THE OS INSTALLED BY THE VENDOR. ALL OTHER DATA IS STORED IN D & E DRIVES. PLEASE HELP ME........

Best way dont think so much just go for new HD which you get at very low cost

1st solution I can say is
try Revo Uninstaller
i think its free so dowload it by googling from net.
It wil help to uninstall programe along with the left over backup ,registry,temp files,etc.
In short complete delet.
For that
1>start it
2>select the programe to uninstall
3>select option 4 (saying along with regestry)
4>it will uninstall and check all boxes come after that processes
5>keep going next by readng messeges
6>click on finish at end.
thats all the programe is completely deleted.
Now Click on tools tab
under which Junk files Cleaner,browser cleaner,microsoft office cleaner,windows cleaner,evidece remover ,unrecoverable delet etc many options fro you read the help menu and try it
hope it will enable you to kep ready for Space walk...

and ya if you have 11.2GB of C:\ maximum space then it will come around the 2.8GB size.
So you have not to worry abt space
And aur ak bat what evr programe and applications u install or use is also keeped and moitor inu r windows so size might incease further.
other data like system volume restore point,information,,programe files,etc are not coted in above so it may be increase so that

My space on C drive is 40GB and Iam using windows xp OS apart from that no other software is installed in C drive.
40gb ka 84%
=33.6GB fre space.
+ 3gb (round figure) for XP
+ 2.40gb for Documents and Settings and Programe files
+ 1gb(round figure) my documents
=33.6+3+2.4+1
=40

i just guessed these all figure which may be nearer value to your C:\
XP used min 5GB hard disk space which is 12.5% of your hard disk plus whenever u install any software apart from OS like for eg. Tally or Winamp etc. it gets stored in C:\Program Files or your recent documents in My Documents and also the softwares in your startup gets stored in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs that usually takes some space of your Primary Drive that is your C:\
So you can try this out next time you download any software change the default path from C:\ to any other drive and for softwares already installed on your PC first unistall them and again install them by changing the destination.
But don't try this if you don't have .exe files of softwares you already have.
Or you can do this press window key
then click on run
type temp and press enter
your temporary folder gets displayed select all and delete them but this is not going to increase the Space in GB
yes but few extra KBs will be available to you.
ALL THE DOWNLOADED SOFTWARES ARE INSTALLED ON D & E DRIVES, SO THERE MUST BE 84% OF FREE SPACE IN C DRIVE
