1.Nature of the Question Paper. This is not known.

1.Be prepared for any surprise.

2.The level of knowledge: Expert knowledge and not working knowledge

2.Do not worry. At worst the question can be lengthy. If it’s lengthy for you it’s lengthy for others as well.

3.Nature of Questions: Analysis of the Past Question Papers fairly reveals that the source of the questions is more or less from the study materials, RTPs and past question papers. In some selected subjects it could be from prescribed text books.

3.Focus on:

  •                         Study material
  •                         Past Exam papers
  •                         RTP
  •                         One prescribed text book prescribed by icai

4.About the Question Paper. One can notice questions are not normally repeated for about 2 years i.e., 4 attempts. But a different question from the same topic is possible.

4.Do not waste time on doing the question for the past 4 attempts except for practice, if need be.

5.About the Question Paper: In almost all the subjects there is consistency with respect to 60% of the topics.

5.Split a subject into say 20 sub-divisions of topics. A matching with that of the past question papers would throw out the topics which are consistently repeated. Hence student should be thorough with the 60%.

6.About Question Paper: The time allowed may be disproportionately less to number of questions asked, due to the voluminous syllabus.

6.This is a general phenomenon and it can be noticed that more or less 10% of the questions will be difficult to answer. Do not unnecessarily worry about it. To tackle this it is preferable to provide short/precise answers instead of giving a lengthy and irrelevant answer.

7.The right objective: Students do not normally set an objective of getting 50+ marks in each paper.

7.Change your objective. This automatically ensures that you get the AGGREGATE.

8.Lack of Practice: You are more accustomed to cell phones and typing in the Computers.

8.Note that the examination is manual. Please give rest to both your cell phones and computer. Start writing. It should be a minimum of 2 hours a day.

9.Know the system of valuation by the ICAI. The valuation is quite unique. i.e., every step carries a due weight in each paper.

9.Refer the suggested answers brought out by the ICAI and cross verify whether your answers tally with the answer given. It need not be 100% similar. However you should be able to strike 75% of the same.

10.General Tips:

1.Ensure proper and adequate preparation, adequate sleep and adequate diet. Do not overdo any of these.

2.Do not panic if your very first exam is not upto your satisfaction. Go ahead.

3.Do not write unnecessary and irrelevant answer.

4.Read the instructions clearly and do not misunderstand the question.
