How to apply iec code as an individual?.

Hey Hi Raicemon,

U can apply for IEC with a saving bank account ,but u need a verfication letter from bank in a specified format that you hold a a/c in their bank since ----- date and your photo must be attested by the bank people.

Secondly, after applying online, just take print out of application and send it to your respective DGFT office.

Thirdly, u can apply for IEC as an individual no need to associate urself with a firm, U just need ur Pan card.

IEC Code is unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade , Ministry of Commerce, Government of India to Indian Companies.

Directorate General of Foreign Trade(DGFT) issued a Policy Circular No.15 (RE-2006)/2004-2009 Date: 27th July, 2006) for New System for issuance of Importer-Exporter Code Number

An application for grant of IEC number shall be made by the Registered/Head Office of the applicant and apply to the nearest Regional Authority of Directorate General Foreign Trade, the Registered office in case of company and Head office in case of others, falls in the ‘Aayaat Niryaat Form - ANF2A’ and shall be accompanied by documents prescribed therein. In case of STPI/ EHTP/ BTP units, the Regional Offices of the DGFT having jurisdiction over the district in which the Registered/ Head Office of the STPI unit is located shall issue or amend the IECs.

Only one IEC would be issued against a single PAN number. Any proprietor can have only one IEC number and in case there are more than one IECs allotted to a proprietor, the same may be surrendered to the Regional Office for cancellation.

The application  can  be download  Form in PDF or Word. This is called "Aayaat Niryaat Form - ANF2A". Along with IEC Code Number Application Form it is necessary to submit Appendix-18B Attested by Applicant's Banker in his letter head with two passport size photo).

• Application form in specified format (Form ANF 2A and ANF-1) to be filled.
  • Details of the company
    • Name of the Individual
    • Residential address of the Individual
    • Address(es) of all the branch offices/ divisions/ factories
    • Telephone number
    • Email address of the firm
  • Details about promoters
    • Name of Proprietor
    • Fathers name
    • Residential Address
    • Contact Phone number
  • Type of Exporter
    • Merchant/ Manufacturer/ Service Provider/ Combination of any of these
  • Bank account details of the company
    • Name of the bank
    • Address of the bank

• A certificate from your banker in specified format. The certificate should also attest the photograph of 1 of the promoter.
• 6 Passport size photograph of 1 of the promoters
• A demand draft in favour of concerned officer under whose jurisdiction the registered office of the applicant company comes (e.g. Joint DGFT or DGFT depending on the office to office)
• Self attested copy of the PAN card
• A covering letter on letter head of the company requesting the concerned officer to grant IE Code
• In case of Individual/ proprietorship firms, Residential address proof of the proprietor is also needed. The residential address proof should have been issued by any Governmental agency and should have a photo of the person (e.g. Driving Licence, Voters ID card, Passport etc.)
• Self addressed envelope (size 5" x 12") with postal stamp affixed on it for despatch of IEC via speed post by the Department. Postal stamp value:
  • For local area - Rs.20/-
  • Upto 200Kms - Rs.25/-
  • 200 to 1000 Kms - Rs.30/-
  • More than 1000Kms - Rs.50/-
• All the documents alongwith self addressed envelope should be put in a file and then submitted either in person at the concerned office or be sent via post to the concerned office.

while applying IEC, saving account  cancelled cheque will we acceptable or not... ?

If you are filling as an individual then saving bank account cancelled cheque is acceptable.
