A lady buys goods worth rs.200 from a shop. (Shopkeeper selling the goods with zero profit).
The lady gives him 1000 rs note. The shopkeeper gets the change from the next shop and keeps 200 for himself and returns rs.800 to d lady.
Later the shopkeeper of the next shop comes with the 1000rs note saying "duplicate" and takes his money back.

The Loss is of Rs. 1000/- Lady's Gain is Shopkeeper's Loss
Lady 's Gain : 200 Goods + 800 Rs. Cash
I would say zero if he can cheat other people and give them that 1000 duplicate note
As per it should be 1200
Loss faced by shopkeeper = Rs. 2,000
Rs.200 = value of goods
Rs.800 = Paid to Lady
Rs.1,000 = Paid to the shopkeeper for the change
loss Rs.2000/-.

money returned to shopkeeper Rs.1000/-.
800+200.the trick is just think shopkeeper had the change and he oly recieved 1000rs of Fake note.
Total loss id Rs1000.Details of it is-
He has to Return shopkeeper from whom he borrowed Rs1000
Hes good worth Rs200 gone
So total loss=Rs1200
Less:Rs200 cash with him as Rs 800 was returned
So total loss is Rs1000
Total loss is Rs.2000/-
Rs.200/- goods
Rs.800/- cash returned
Rs.1000/- Fake note
His out flow of 200 worth goods and 800/- returned to lady is loss to him.total loss 1000/-
lets take this question in other way...
lets say before coming lady shopkeeper has rs 1000 cash+ 200(goods)= 1200
after shopping by lady shopkeer left with 200 cash + 1000 duplicate note(ie=0 worth) = 200 [since 1000 he paid to shop keeper from whom he gets change& 200 goods sold to lady..]
hence total loss is 1000
