you can claim deduction as per the following manner from salary income

1. Actual hra received

2. Rent paid over 10% salary

3. 50% of salary if you are in delhi, chennai, kolkatha, mumbai

40%  of salary if you are in any other place (mentioned above)  you can't claim  80 GG decuction because you are avail HRA from the employer

Say, my Salary(Basic+DA)= 250000; 10%= 25000/-.
Rent Paid= Actual HRA of Rs. 24000/- that the employer deduct for Quarter + Additional Deduction of Rs. 1200/- (24000+1200=25200),

(1) Rent paid in excess of 10% of salary, i.e. 25200-25000= 200
(2) 40% of salary= 100000/-
(3)Actual allowance received for relevant period= 0 (as I am residing in a departmental quarter, They deduct the HRA)

As per section 10(13A), least among the above three is 0.
Do you receive HRA from your employer?
I am not getting HRA from my employer and I am government teacher my total salary is 533617 (Basic+DA) can I deduction under section 80 GG how and how much
and I can pay rent 3500 per month
If you are government employee you should get HRA. Can you check your payslip?
