House Registration expenses : 80C Deduction

If we incur the house registration fees and stamp duty charges of Rs. 400000 in FY 2019-20. As we can claim deduction under section 80C upto the limit of Rs. 150000 only in FY 2019-20.

So can we claim the remaining deduction of Rs. 250000 in FY 2020-21 and FY 2021-22 ( However the payment of house registration fees and stamp duty charges were paid in FY 2019-20 only).

Thanks & Regards

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the deductibility of house registration fees and stamp duty under Section 80C. While these expenses are eligible for deduction, the claim is strictly limited to the maximum allowable amount of Rs. 1,50,000 in the financial year the payment was made. Any excess amount cannot be carried forward to subsequent financial years for deduction.

NO,  deduction can not be carried forward

It is allowed only in the year of payment is actually made, only up to the max. limit of 150000.
