11 June 2010Please help in regards to calculation of EPS for following :
Profit after tax for 2009-10 : Rs. 1,00,000
Opening capital on 1-4-2009 : 100 shares (Capital Rs. 1,000)
Share application money received on 1-12-2009 : 15,000 shares (1,000 Share issued in April 2010 at Rs. 15 - Rs. 10 for shares & Rs. 5 for Share premium)
Please help in calculating the Basic & Diluted EPS for financial statements on 31-03-2010. An excel sheet with calculation will be much appreciated.

your Basic EPS and Diluted EPS will be as:
Basic EPS = 100000/100 = 1000
Diluted EPS = 100000/1100 = 90.91 (since there is no diluted earnings in case of application money for issue of shares)
I think you wrongly mention 15000 as shares instead of Rs. 15000
