Dear Friends, I am serving in Public Sector Organization and appearing for CA Final exam group under new scheme. I am out of studying habit and want to clear the exam in this May 2022 by devoting maximum possible time. It is not possible to prepare Institute study material since there is no much time. It is requested to suggest any best study material for Group II subjects viz., Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes, Strategic Cost Management. I may be wrong in not choosing institute materials. However, keeping in view of the time available I want to have readymade material. Please help me in suggesting the good study materials for the above subjects.

Hey Ram Kumar! Totally get the pressure when time is short, especially for CA Final Group 2 with those heavy subjects. Here’s a quick guide to pick study materials that can help you maximize your prep for May 2022:

1. Direct Taxes

  • Quick Recommendation:
Vishal Bhatt or CA Raj K Agrawal notes are very popular for concise and to-the-point theory and practical questions.

  • Why? These materials summarize the complex topics well and focus on important amendments and practical problems.

  • Also, the Income Tax Ready Reckoner by CA Raj K Agrawal is handy for quick revisions.

2. Indirect Taxes (GST & Customs)

  • Quick Recommendation:
CA Bhanwar Borana or CA V S Datey study materials or revision notes.

  • They cover GST concepts clearly and provide a lot of practice problems with answers.

  • Alternatively, CA Rachana Ranade’s videos and notes (available on YouTube and other platforms) are well-structured and easy to grasp for last-minute prep.

3. Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation (SCMPE)

  • Quick Recommendation:
CA Rajesh Agarwal or CA Pankaj Garg notes are known for clarity and focus on exam-oriented topics.

  • These notes simplify concepts and case studies, which is crucial for the SCMPE paper.

  • Also, practice past exam case studies thoroughly.

General Tips:

  • Revision Kits:
Use ICAI’s Revision Test Papers and RTPs to get familiar with the latest exam pattern and questions.

  • Mock Tests:
Attempt at least 2-3 full-length mock tests per subject in the last month.

  • Videos:
Consider supplementing reading with video lectures from reputed teachers (CA Rachana Ranade, CA Vipul Shah, CA N Raja Natarajan, etc.) for difficult topics.

Why skip Institute material?

ICAI material is comprehensive but can be lengthy and time-consuming if you’re short on time. Coaching notes and concise materials focus on “must-know” areas, which helps in quick preparation.
