Yes, you can make your GST tax payments, including those for GSTR-3B, using UPI-enabled applications like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm.
The Government of India has enabled this facility directly on the official GST Portal to simplify the payment process for taxpayers.
How to pay via UPI:
-
Log in: Go to the GST Portal and log in with your credentials.
-
Create Challan: Navigate to the Services tab, select Payments, and click on Create Challan.
-
Fill Details: Enter the required tax details (tax type and amount) and select the payment mode as UPI.
-
Scan and Pay: A QR code will be generated on the screen. Open your preferred UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM), scan the QR code, and authorize the payment with your UPI PIN.
-
Confirmation: Once the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation both in your UPI app and on the GST portal.
Important Note for Businesses: While you can use these apps to pay your taxes, please ensure that all business transactions received through these platforms are correctly recorded and reported in your GSTR-3B filings. Failing to report income received via digital channels can lead to scrutiny, tax notices, and penalties from the GST department.
