While filing GSTR 9, We have come across negative figure in Table 8 row no. D. This negative balance is due to shortfall in amount of ITC available in GSTR 2A and that claimed by us(i.e. 8A-8B). I call upon experts to clarify as to what possible recourse can be taken to resolve the issue.

Have you reverse excess claim ITC of 2017-18 in the year 2018-19 ?.
No such reversal. We are actually getting shortfall in ITC, i.e. ITC as per GSTR2A is less than what we have claimed. Thus, a negative figue in 8D.

What happens if GSTR9 filed with negative figure in Table 8 row no D? We know that one of our suppliers has not filed his GSTR1 or his has declared wrong GSTIN in his return and not amended invoices till MAR19 GSTR1 return. Whether we have to pay once again GST? even when have done payment to the supplier. Is it necessary to pay now or we will get notice from Department for negative figure in GSTR9 Table 8 row no. D.
