Quick Summary
If your business has closed and you haven't filed GST returns since June 2019, you need to file all pending returns up to March 2020, even if they are nil returns. After clearing any tax liabilities, you can then apply for the cancellation of your GST registration using Form GST REG-16. Failing to file returns can lead to future problems with vendors and GST officers.

Need to file all pending returns after that you can apply for cancellation of registration
Thnaq sir
File your GST return till March 20 and THEREAFTER file GST Cancellation Application
You cannot proceed to cancel your GST Registration unless you file all your pending GST Returns. First file all your pending GST Returns and clear all your tax liabilities with the department and then file FORM GST REG-16 electronically ( Application for Cancellation of GST Registration ).

Kindly note that under GST regime filling Returns are mandatory even if there is no transaction in a particular month ( NIL RETURN ).
