Quick Summary
If you've applied for GST registration and are experiencing delays, you're not alone. Many taxpayers are facing similar issues, with the GST department citing manpower shortages and restrictions on field visits due to COVID-19 as primary reasons. It's advisable to check your application status online using your ARN and, if no clear status is shown or you haven't received communication, contact your local jurisdiction office for clarification or to address any potential issues with your submitted documents.
No Sir Notification No. 35/2020 - CT, dated 03/04/2020 does not covers Section 25 of the CGST Act 2017.
Refer your mail box Sir. The Proper Officer might issue a Show Cause Notice ( SCN ) / Clarification regarding any documents you submitted while applying for Registration.
If you did not get any mail from the Department, then it's better to contact your Jurisdiction Office. ( you can also contact GST Helpdesk but it is useless. )
This problem is not only with you. The same problem is being faced by many taxpayers.
I just now had a word with a GST Practitioner and he said that even he is facing the same problem with his clients GST Registration. He contacted with the Department and they said that due to the outbreak of COVID-19, there is a shortage of Manpower in the department. Also the Officers cannot do a field visit to the business premises of the Person who have applied for Registration due to the lockdown. That is why there is a delay in getting the GST Registration Certificate. Not to worry.
But I personally suggest you to contact your Jurisdiction Office regarding this matter. You might have a different problem.
