Government departments takes time
Need not worry ....as per Proviso during of the proceeding relating to cancellation of registration filed, the registration is suspended for such period.
And As per rule 21A(3) not liable to any return under section 39.
It's better to visit to your jurisdiction tax officer

Wait till any reply from government officers

One of my friend applied for cancellation in the month of June 2018 and received the cancellation order in the month of January 2019.
