Quick Summary
If your father pays your insurance premiums directly into your account, and the policy is in your name, you can claim the deduction under Section 80C. The amount your father transfers is considered exempt as he falls under the definition of a relative for tax purposes. Both you and your father are eligible to claim the benefit; it's advisable to claim it on the tax return where it will result in greater tax savings.
