Furnishing of Board agenda and minutes under RTI Act, 2005

Dear Professionals,

Please advise, whether copy of Agenda and Extracts of Minutes of the Meeting of Board of Directors of a Govt. Company can be furnished to the Applicant under RTI Act, 2005, whether copy of Agenda and Extracts of Minutes is a public document.

These are not public document. It can be denied stating section 8(1)(d) of the RTI Act.

No, these are not public documents.

RTI covers ANY INFORMATION. You can't bifurcate it as Public document and Private document.

Ofcourse.. but the fact is that in this context RTI is a general act and the providing of Board documents are governed by the speical act. Hence the provision of the spcial act will prevail over the other.
