Harshna,

It is on  you that which form you want to file. There exists two options:

1. You can file ITR 1 , showing Tution Income as Other Income (in Income from Other Source) , if you have expenses you can claim it u/s 57.

2. Or you can File ITR 4 , with the option of No Accounts maintained, Professional Services.

If you dont have more Income it will be better you should file ITR 1.

Agree with Shivam

well.  Have to disagree with both above.  The logic of parking tuition income in other incomes goes over my head all the times.  Income-tax Act is pretty clear on one thing.  Only where an income is not covered by basic four heads of Income, it can be parked in other incomes.

section 28 pretty much cover tuition as a professional activity. So, how you advise for filing ITR-1, makes no sense to me.

Further, on what basis you arrive at the conclusion that it has to be "no accounts maintained" option.  The querist has not provided the quantum of income which is the basis of deciding whether accounts are to be maintained or not?
