Form 16a and form 26as conflict.

ITR 1197 views 5 replies

Hi, In my ITR 1 i have to show income from FD interest. While cross checking my Form 16A with the Form 26AS i found that there is a difference in amount of Interest Credited and Tax Deducted in Form 16A with the form 26AS. As per 26AS i found that the interest part is about 10 thousand more and tax deducted is also with respect to that. Why is my Form 16A shows less amount than given in the 26AS. ? Please help! . Which one should i show in my ITR 1 as Income from other sources? Thanks Anil

You should take up the matter with the deductor immedaitely and sort out the differences. This should not normally happen unless the deductor has  revised the TDS statement after furnishing 16A to you physically.

Thanks,

Thank you Dipjyothi.

The notice which i got along with my Form 16A from Bank says It is the "Tax Certificate for Q4 of FY 2012-2013 PAN xxxxxxxxx." I havent received anything for Q1 , Q2 , or Q3.

So my Form 26AS is reflecting the total interest credited and tax deducted from Q1 to Q4.

Right now i have filled FD income details in the ITR 1 based on my Form 26AS.

Is it OK?

Thanks,

Anil

I don't think, bank credit interest on FD on Qtrly basis (other thank some special cases), so there must be any other issue, bank must have revised its TDS return,

you should confirm it with bank.

you can ask the bank to give you form 16A of Q1, Q2, and Q3.. and then tally your TDS with form 26AS

contact bank take a certified copy from than than file return
