Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the rules for foreign remittances sent to support a child's study abroad expenses. It confirms that such remittances fall under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) with an annual limit of $250,000. The funds are treated as personal expenses or capital withdrawals and don't require special accounting. Importantly, any Tax Collected at Source (TCS) on these remittances can be claimed as credit in your Income Tax Return (ITR).

Part of the overall LRS so a quarter million dollars per year (ie 2.5 lakh dollars).

No special treatment in your accounts, just combine it with your personal expenses / drawings / withdrawals from capital.

And if the bank charges you TCS remember to take credit for it in your return just like you would for TDS.

Pretty straightforward.

Thanks dear
