We plan to import industrial goods from USA and distribute in Maharashtra. My understanding is that to pass on cenvat credit we need to register with excise as first stage dealer. However, can we use commercial office space for storing these goods? Or do we need to find a warehouse property only for excise registration?

a storage space is needed for "dealer excise registration", it may be your commercial office space, but you have to store the goods there only, as per RG23D register.
