Is service tax applicable on exporting softwares made in Mumbai to U.S.A?
Is it necessary to take a Service Tax No.?

Yes, Service Tax is applicable,

Yes, it attracts service tax, so you need to be registered with department, if your service crosses the limit(10Lakhs in previous year)
YOu can claim exemption of tax, if all procedure of export has been complied with and the recievable is paid in US dollars(any foreign currency)
