Explanation of Accounting entry needed

A/c entries 360 views 5 replies

In the solution given for this question:

The main problem is of last entry. Here, the amount of 22,000 applicants (for full allotment) is deducted from the 'Allocation Money' of 1,50,000 applicants citing the reason that they have already given the Application money in the first entry. But my question is Why the book is deducting it from Allotment money? Since, these 22,000 applicants have given Application and Allotment money so how can we justify deduction of Allotment money from Application money? Please explain.

Six lakhs minus the Application money.

Please elaborate

The bank balance should show fifteen lakhs if shares were allotted at premium in application money that is four plus two rupee. It will be like share issued at 10 and it’s fifteen lakhs. Bank holds the same money after returning rejected application money at six rupee and 22 thousand shares at four. I’m not able to type numbers here.

Some entries are missing here. That’s why it’s confusing, the first three entries showing

application money received at premium 4+2 ₹ for whole 180000 shares

then that money is adjusted to capital and premium for 150000 shares

next a refund was given for rejected 8000 applications.

then in the last entry, they received allotment money and refunded application money at six rupee and not four rupee. They should have done this In the third entry rather than to confuse me in the exam

Application rejected a/c 48,000

Applications refunded  a/c 132000

To bank a/c 180000
