Exemption of income tax

Dear all,

I am new to this forum and have limited understanding about the area of  finance.

I wish to know

IF a Ph.D student (indian) who is

1) studying abroad

2) receives monthly scholarship from foreign university

has to pay income tax in India.

hoping to get more knowledge in this filed

its totally depends on Residential staut of this person.
