exemption case.......

Hello everybody,

My friend  appeared in IPCC in may 2010  for the first group. He couldnot pass the group but got exemption in paper of accountancy. He will appear in remaining three pappers of the first group in coming exams.

I want to ask that how many marks he need to clear the group. If we condiser the marks of accountancy(61 marks) then he need 139 (200-61) marks to clear the group and if we not consider this marks he need 150 marks (50% of 300) in the remaining papers. Can anyone let me know how many marks he need?? I will also appreciate to get the link for this topic.

Thanx & Regards,

As per the guidelines of ICAI,

That the candidate will be declared to have passed in the said group if he secures in a single attempt a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of the papers and an aggregate of 50 percent marks. For the purpose of arriving at the aggregate as already stated above, 60 percent marks or more secured earlier will also be taken into consideration.

The marks of 60 percent or more secured in one or more papers are carried forward automatically for the immediately next three following examinations.

So complying with above proviso , your friend would get the benefit  and is required to score  min. 40 & aggregate 50 in overall...  so he needs 139 to pass the group..
